I am Kate and I love beer and flowers.

More than that though, I love people, I love to learn, and I love nature. I’ve never considered myself a writer or an artist, but I wanted to create more inclusive beer content. When I first started getting into beer I had a hard time finding perspectives that aligned with my own. Thankfully with social media platforms, that seems to be changing. I hope I can help to facilitate that change.

As it turns out, I have a lot of great memories linked to good food and drink. I really love doing tastings with friends, visiting new breweries and bottle shops, and learning or doing something new together. I would like to help foster these experiences with others and I would love to create a whole Brew Flower community. I believe putting myself out there is the first step.

I was born and raised in a small Appalachian town. Being able to spend much of my time in the woods growing up, nature has become a running motif throughout my life. Like beer, nature (especially flowers) has bore witness to many of my most cherished moments. Furthermore, we would not have beer without flowers (hops especially).

It is important that you know, I do my best not to take myself too seriously. There are plenty of beer writers who are a library of brew knowledge. While I love to learn, I know I will never be able to write with the technical depth of those individuals. The extensive breadth of the ever-changing beer world fascinates me, and I hope to share that fascination with you.

Furthermore, why can’t beer drinking be pretty, cute, and with the right crowd, down right adorable!

I would also like to encourage everyone to drink responsibly! For personal reasons, this is very important to me.

About the Photographer for this Section

If you have read my blog or checked out my Instagram, I’m sure you have noticed that I love to photograph beer and flowers. You may have also noticed that I don’t really like to take pictures of myself. For that I reached out to Dani Hansen. Dani was uniquely qualified to help me as she works in a brewery (for the time being) and is a wonderful photographer. I’m not perfectly comfortable having my picture taken, but Dani is warm, kind, fun, and really put me at ease. If you are in need of a photographer I would encourage you to contact Dani Hansen (you can find her on Instagram @danihansenphoto). She was wonderful to work with, and Dani loves to travel!
